About Inverurie Orchestra

Inverurie Orchestra is a community orchestra mainly comprising amateur musicians from Aberdeen Shire and City. Based in Inverurie, we rehearse every Thursday night and our aim is to have fun, play good music and learn a little along the way.

Led by our Musical Director, Chris Gray, and orchestral leader, Aden Mazur, we explore both familiar and ambitious repertoire that is enjoyable both to play and to listen to.

We regularly perform with soloists, who have come from a variety of backgrounds from professional soloists, to university students looking for a chance to perform and even our own orchestra members. Recent soloists have included Steven Laidlaw (Elgar Cello Concerto), Richard Bailey (Rhapsody in Blue) and our own Zoe Sayer (Weber Bassoon Concerto).

We also look for opportunities to perform larger works alongside local choral groups, and recently performed Haydn's Creation with Inverurie Choral Society and soloists Amy Strachan (soprano), Samuel Jenkins (tenor) and Niall Anderson (bass-baritone).
